Ministry Intern Update from Guatemala

Hello from Guatemala!

These first few weeks have been crazy, fun beautiful, and full of Jesus! I was blessed to be escorted by the whole Reichard family flying into Guatemala! We had a beautiful drive through the city, a stop at McDonald’s, through the mountains, and to their beautiful property in Santiago. Upon my arrival the business began! The second day, the children’s home received a new baby named Jose, and a few days later we received another baby named Milagro!

After a few days of staying at The Reichard House, I moved into the Esther house, where I spend most of my time, and have the joy of getting to spend time in worship with them every morning. I have a schedule of helping at each house, the Reichard house, who hosts about 25 kids, The Esther house, who hosts 12 girls, and the Love and Hope House, the house for young kids and toddlers! It is a joy to get to serve each one, they are all very different and have different needs. I enjoy switching from teaching English, changing diapers, cooking and cleaning, teaching music, holding babies, and getting to have hard conversations with the girls about God. I have loved getting to know the house parents. Hearing there stories and the ways they are obedient to the Lord is truly an example of a life surrendered to Christ. I hope to serve them the best that I can, since they play a crucial role in this ministry.

I am very hopeful for the restoration that I believe is taking place here. As with any children’s home, there is brokenness, hurt, and many wounds. But I believe we serve a God who heals. These house parents are faithful to serve God and direct these kids to the arms of the one true Father, and they do it so well. It is healing for each kid to have the example of the house parents creating a Jesus-loving, family environment for them.

I am thankful that Saving Susan is able to support them. From seeing first hand the impact Saving Susan Ministry had on Bileg Solid Rock in Cambodia over the years, I believe that God has bright futures for each kid here, and I am confident in how Saving Susan can assist each one to reach their God given potential. I am blessed to be here, blessed to get to have the opportunity to be at a children’s home that is covered in Jesus, and a ministry that supports them so well. Thank you for all the support and prayers!

Glory to God!

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
