“Feed my Lambs” – Serving our Community During COVID-19

Saving Susan Ministry is blessed with in-country partners who have genuine hearts for serving others. Not only do these partners daily care for their orphan children, but they also run outreach programs that share food, supplies, and the gospel with their surrounding communities. In this time of COVID-19, the need is greater than ever. Our partners have risen to the occasion and continue their tireless efforts to serve the community despite the risk posed by the virus.

We were blessed this past month to share from our abundance to help these needy communities served by our partners. Bileg Solid Rock has several feeding centers in the surrounding Kampong Thom province. Saving Susan made a donation to help them meet their increased demand. Because of this, they were able to bring groceries to two additional towns. Multiple Parent Partners also made donations to assist extended families of our children who were struggling to make ends meet due to the crisis.

Our newest partner, Imparting Smiles in Poipet, Cambodia, serves the surrounding community through their Hope Center ministry. Steve Hyde shared the following update from the ministry: “The Hope Center staff continue to be safe, but go out to assist the poorest and most vulnerable around Poipet. They give basic medical checks distributing disinfectant, soap and masks; they partner with the government health departments to teach the villagers about protecting themselves from Covid-19 virus, and most importantly are still saving babies from abortion and sharing the Love of Jesus!” Saving Susan Ministry was able to support these efforts through a donation to the Hope Center.

Meanwhile, in the city of Phnom Penh, Pastor Sihok continues to shepherd his church and serve the poor in the community through his dumpsite mission, which provides food, medical supplies, schooling for kids, and more. Hundreds have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior after hearing the gospel for the first time through Pastor Sihok. We were blessed to make an extra donation to support this life-giving ministry during this difficult time.

Finally, in Guatemala, Greg Miller Ministries continues to serve the needy in remote communities in the mountains near Zacapa. Greg, along with three of our Parent-Partnered children, bring bags of rice and other food to these destitute communities, and they never leave without sharing the gospel and praying with them. The need has risen greatly due to COVID-19, and we were able to donate funds to support these efforts. According to Greg Miller, “God has been so good to allow us to be a blessing. In the last two weeks we have been able to provide food for 200 families. We will continue to help the needy as long as the funds keep coming.”
