Praise Him With Song

By: Maddie Hayes

For the past two years, Saving Susan Ministry has provided 125 musical instruments, as well as, countless hours of music instruction in both Guatemala and Cambodia.  The gift and beauty of music is enjoyed around the world. It is a part of all cultures and is a natural part of human life. Music and song often have the power to bring together different people and cultures.

It is also a big part of a Christian’s life. There are many verses in the Bible about praising the Lord with song. There are even specific instruments listed in scripture. Music is a beautiful way to express your praise. Whether your singing is in or out of tune, it is still appreciated by God.

Music is not only a crowd favorite, but it also provides many health benefits. Playing an instrument helps with stress, depression, and anxiety. Unfortunately, orphans tend to struggle with things like this, but music helps with the self-expression of an individual. Playing an instrument enhances mental performance, coordination, time management, reading skills, concentration, and even mathematics.

Whether it is violins, drums, guitars, or keyboards, you can help provide instruments for children in Cambodia and Guatemala.

We are so happy that we are able to give these children the opportunities that music provides. We are even more thankful to teach them a new outlet of praise.

Psalm 150:1-5

Praise the Lord.[a]

Praise God in his sanctuary;
    praise him in his mighty heavens.
2 Praise him for his acts of power;
    praise him for his surpassing greatness.
3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
    praise him with the harp and lyre,
4 praise him with timbrel and dancing,
    praise him with the strings and pipe,
5 praise him with the clash of cymbals,
    praise him with resounding cymbals.
